The brief was for a ground floor extension that could create a new open plan kitchen / living / dining space. Owing to the standard width of the property options were limited, however material choices enabled  a simple, contemporary design that visually extended the space  beyond its four walls. By using a glass roof on its attached side, the terrace house was able to have a roof with 'restricted' height that is not 'visible' and so it does not constrain the space. The main space opens out via a pair of patio doors into the rear garden which bring the outdoors in.
