Owned by a local church, this premise had originally been three separate houses. The church had been using part of it as its offices. Gruhe was commissioned to at the potential for converting the first floor into rentable units for the use of young professionals & students. With minimum intervention on the existing structure & through the reuse of some existing walls, it was possible to create a 6Bed 6Person shared apartment with two bath / shower rooms, & a Living area which opened to the Kitchen & Dining space. A separate 2Bed 3 Person unit was also planned. We considered this approach to be ecological, economical & practical, while respecting the existing building fabric by having no impact on the existing fenestration & elevations.
